PSC supports `Araw' sports festivities

THE Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) will sponsor five events of the 2008 Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte-Araw ng Dabaw Sports Festival.

The PSC, chaired by Dabawenyo William "Butch" Ramirez, a former sports consultant of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, is bankrolling dancesports, chess, arnis, taekwondo and swimming competitions.

The City Government of Davao through the Sports Development Division-City Mayor's Office has supported 17 events as part of the city's festivities.

Football for the young and veteran players kicked the festival on March 8 to 9 at the Tionko field and bodybuilding on March 9 at the Victoria Plaza.

Billiards at the JL Hall started on Tuesday while the other events will be played on Saturday at separate venues.
