Cagas wants road from Digos-Columbio

A PRIORITY project being pushed by Davao del Sur Governor Douglas Ra. Cagas is a road that would connect the municipality of Columbio in Sultan Kudarat and the city of Digos in Davao del Sur.

In an interview with the governor last Friday at the Marco Polo Hotel, he said the road is necessary to expedite the travel of agricultural products between the two areas.

"The road from Columbio in Sultan Kudarat will pass through the municipality of Kiblawan and Padada, shortening the distance from 160 kilometers to only 40 kilometers," Cagas said.

The governor added that the project has been proposed before but was never acted upon by his predecessor.

Cagas said an estimated budget of about P300 million would be needed for the project. "Ayoko ng hindi sementado na kalsada," Cagas added. (I don't want a road that's not cemented.)

With the promise of the National Government to start the construction of at least 60 percent of infrastructure projects by the first half of the year, Cagas is hopeful that his Columbio-Kiblawan-Padada road will be on top of the list. (CPM)
