Sunday, March 23, 2008 SP to resume session on Tuesday By Grace L. Plata
THE Davao City Council will resume its regular session on March 25 after a 13-day recess to make way for committee hearings, the Araw ng Dabaw Celebration and the Holy Week.
Floor Leader Danilo Dayanghirang, in an earlier interview, said aside from the regular session on Tuesday, the City Council will also be having another session on March 26 at 2 p.m. to make-up for the missed March 18 schedule.
Dayanghirang said they had to give time for the various committees to hold hearings, as there is no more agenda left for tackling on second and third readings.
House rules dictate that for an item to be calendared under second reading, it should complete hearings with concerned agencies and stakeholders in a committee level for the chair to create a report. The report is then submitted to the City Council for approval upon regular session, and the item can then be calendared and tackled under second reading.
During the last session on March 11, the body only had one item under third and final reading and none under second reading.
