This after the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) gathered 33 Muslim and Christian experts last February to evaluate, validate, and finalize the training materials and the assessment instruments that were developed a few months earlier by some Muslim teachers with the assistance of Tesda experts on curriculum development.
"Aside from the skills courses, DepEd and Tesda have come up with a program on basic training in Arabic language and Islamic values to enhance the Muslim OSYs' chances for employment," said Tesda 11 information officer Mafel Negrido-Gamale in a telephone interview Thursday.
After undergoing training programs, the students shall be provided with competency assessment to be followed by issuance of necessary certifications.
Negrido said DepEd Undersecretary for Muslim Affairs Dr. Manaros B. Boransing stressed that the program shall be made available to all interested Muslim OSYs in the Philippines who are undeniably behind in a lot of aspects, including education.
"He lauded the movers of the program as this is a very good move towards the advancement of Muslim youths," Negrido said. (GLP)
