Friday, March 28, 2008 Age-group triathlon gets underway Sunday
DAVAO City bets are early favorites when action gets going in the Davao leg of the National Age-Group Triathlon Championships in an out-and-back course from the Waterfront Insular Hotel on Sunday at 6 a.m.
Triathlon Association of Davao (Triad) spokesperson Dino Paulo Ouano said General Santos will compete for the first time in this race "but Davao triathletes have better chances with the absence of top entries from Laguna and Cebu."
Ouano said the competition, which stakes medals, gift certificates and finisher's shirt to the winners, will feature six categories.
"The categories are for 19 years old and under, 20-under, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49 and 50-above," he said during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn Thursday.
He said he will compete in the male 25-29 category.
Ouano's next assignments will be the Subic Triathlon on May 9, Cebu triathlon in June and the Olympic Distance X3 in August. (MLSA)
