VICENTE Te, laywer Joseph Flores and James Young led the opening round of the 3rd Datba Araw ng Dabaw Classic Open Tournament held at the NCCC Mall B3 Center Friday evening.
Te hit an average of 206.75 pinfalls for the top spot, while Flores made 205.75 for second and Young registered 205.63 for third in the three-day event organized by the Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba) that culminates tonight.
Gene Tonelete was fourth with 203.88, while Thomas Convoy came fifth with 203.63 and Danny Usman sixth with 202.63.
Former Datba president Billy Magdale (202.38), Joe Terona, Vivian Kuwahara (200.13), Dr. Tony Te (200), lawyer Marc Fernandez (197.13) and Manny Nierra (195.50) also made it to the top 12.
Trailing behind were Art Galendez, Manny Siongco, Edmund Cambaliza, Ronald Martin, Mayor Al Langkuno, Allan Edulan, Tans Bernas, Ian Ancheta, Greg velasquez, Yule Tanlimco, Jun Nierva and Bill Suelto.
Games were still ongoing as of Saturday in the Philippine Bowling Congress (PBC)-sanctioned meet that attracted some 80 players.
The champion will bag a cash prize of P30,000 and a champion's trophy, while the runner-up will pocket P20,000. The third placer will also receive cash. (MLSA)
