Mayor to attend summit Arroyo is attending in HK

DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is attending a worldwide convention in Hong Kong on Tuesday, which President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will also be attending.

The mayor, however, said he is not part of the Philippine entourage and will not be meeting President Arroyo there.

Duterte said he will be flying to Manila Monday evening and will board a plane for Hong Kong Tuesday morning.

He said his presence in the event would be mainly for the sister-city pact with Nanning City officials.

Duterte said he will be away for about five days.

The mayor had been distancing himself from the Arroyo administration lately especially after the controversy over the NBN-ZTE deal came out.

Duterte said he just wanted the truth to come out and from there he will decide if he would still support the Arroyo government or he would side with the opposition.

The mayor earlier declared he is no longer with the administration but clarified that he has also not joined the opposition. (BOT)
