DCWD unfazed by mounting protest
By Carlo P. Mallo

DESPITE mounting protests from its employees union, the Davao City Water District (DCWD) management won't to do anything.

In a phone interview Wednesday morning, DCWD Finance Manager Imelda Magsuci said they will not interfere with the picket and protest activities conducted by the employees union, Nagkahiusang Mamumuo sa Davao City Water District (Namadacwad) in front of their main office along J.P. Laurel Avenue in Davao City.

The picket line, which started last Monday, has been steadily growing, with some uniformed personnel of the water district joining the protests during lunch break and after office hours.

"We will not interfere, we respect their right to freedom of expression (sic)," Magsuci said.

"As long as they do it outside office hours and do not destroy the properties of the company, we will not stop their picket," Magsuci added.

The finance manager added that it is not the policy of the management to prevent the employees union from airing their grievances.

"Basta they do not violate anything, they can do so," Magsuci added.
