Public urged to file income tax before deadline
THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in Southern Mindanao pleaded to the public on Wednesday to file their income tax returns as soon as possible prior to the April 15 deadline.
"We cannot assure you of quality service on the days near the deadline as people usually rush during those days," Jose Eric Furia, Revenue District Officer for Davao City, said in Wednesday's Ugnayan sa Mandaya Hotel at the Royal Mandaya Hotel.

"The number of the people who file their ITR's (income tax returns) during the last day make it impossible for quality service to be provided," Furia added.
"As much as possible they should pay early in order to avoid the hassle," he said.
Even the banks, according to Furia, are filled with people during the last day of filing.
"We have put up tax filing centers in malls like SM City Davao, Victoria Plaza, and NCCC Mall," Susan Tisoy, chief of the assessment section of BIR Southern Mindanao, told Sun.Star Davao.
Apart from the tax filing centers at the malls, the BIR Southern Mindanao also put up tax filing centers in Calinan, Toril, and Bunawan.
"We are waiting, we are ready for those who want to file," Tisoy added. (CPM)
