Broadcaster's 'hot car' won't affect gun charges

DAVAO City Chief Prosecutor Raul B. Bendigo said the confiscated vehicle of Leonilo Larosa, which is among the hot cars and on the watch list of the Traffic Management Group (TMG), would not affect the illegal possession of firearm charges filed against him.

"I don't think the case will be affected. His case was guns illegally possessed and hindi kasali ang (the) vehicle (was not included)," Bendigo said.

Larosa's Pajero was confiscated and presented to Vice Mayor Sara Duterte along with 24 others that were believed to be stolen vehicles.

Larosa was charged with illegal possession of firearms after a search operation conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) operatives in relation to their probe on the slay of veteran broadcaster Fernando "Batman" Lintuan on December 24, 2008.

The search yielded a Colt Mark IV series 80; a caliber .38 Super Pistol; four magazines; 32 rounds of caliber .38 ammunition; one magazine pouch; one outside gun holster; and one black clutch bag from the vehicle that was the subject of the search warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Southern Mindanao executive judge Isaac Robillo.

Larosa is out on bail for illegal possession of firearms charges but is also facing murder charges. (RMH)
