Saturday, April 12, 2008 Mindanao transcription players meet
MINDANAO'S transcription players gathered in Davao City Friday in a bid to consolidate their plan of actions on the challenges and opportunities faced by the various training institutions and service organizations.
This effort, initiated by the Metro Manila based industry association, the Medical Transcription Industry Association of the Philippines Inc. (MTIAPI) in collaboration with the Transcription Alliance of Davao Inc. (Tadi), brought together players from the cities of Butuan, Davao, General Santos, Zamboanga and Cagayan de Oro.
"MTIAPI hopes to establish stronger branding, front-end awareness, and linkages with relevant international associations, as well as find partners and open up more business opportunities for our local MT companies. Furthermore, the Philippines is heavily promoting its medical transcription capabilities to the United States in a bid to raise its market share," according to Myla Rose Mundo-Reyes, MTIAPI president.
Many cities in Mindanao are ready to face the growth opportunities in transcription.
"Our pool of qualified transcriptionists has been growing at a steady, continuous rate with more training institutions churning out competent graduates in both the medical and business transcription fields," said Wit Holganza, Tadi president.
With the shortage of medical transcription personnel in the US coupled with the increasing older population of Americans, Holganza said "the consistent offshore capabilities of the Philippines can propel us to become a dominant player in the future."
"And as cost of doing business becomes more attractive in the provincial hubs, it makes more sense to explore the capabilities of Mindanao's transcription sector," Holganza added. (CPM)
