Reports from the Traffic Management Unit of the Kidapawan City police said the fully-loaded tricycle was on its way to Barangay Magsaysay from the city's poblacion when hit by a speeding Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Aljon Villanueva, a returning overseas Filipino worker (OFW).
Villanueva, police said, was under the influence of liquor.
Three of the tricycle passengers flew outside the vehicle when the collision happened.
Villanueva was not seriously hit, but his car was badly damaged when it crashed with the tricycle.
Villanueva is facing reckless imprudence resulting to serious physical injuries.
The Sunday road crash was the seventh that happened along the Kidapawan-Makilala highway, which others call a "killer highway", since April 1.
Three of the 21 victims of these road accidents died and others were seriously wounded. (Malu Cadelina Manar)
