Iligan thanks DCWD for water assistance
By Ben O. Tesiorna

SOME sectors in Davao City may be criticizing the Davao City Water District (DCWD) for some reasons or another, but in Iligan City they are all praises for the technical assistance the water utility has rendered for the Iligan's waterworks system.

In a resolution passed by the Iligan City Council, they praised DCWD and its technical staff "for their all-around support, including their technical assistance," for their inputs in designing a major waterworks system.

It was learned that Iligan City Mayor Lawrence Cruz is embarking on a P500 million waterworks system in an effort to address the city's future water needs.

The Iligan City Waterworks System (ICWS) reportedly requested the DCWD and its in-house experts to validate its blueprint.

"Engineers Rey Chavez, manager of Engineering and Construction, and Ronald Munoz gave their utmost support in reviewing the Engineering and Analysis using the facilities and capabilities of DCWD," the resolution stated.

The Iligan councilors also noted that DCWD personnel toured their ICWS counterparts "of their facilities and provided engineering documents to help in the implementation of the Iligan waterworks project".

"Without the DCWD's earnest support to the ICWS personnel, their visit to Davao would not have been that fruitful and successful," the councilors said in their resolution.

In a statement, DCWD general manager Rodora Gamboa said the ICWS's commendation "reflects our commitment to professionalism and our dedication to the public interest. Such a gesture of appreciation humbles and at the same time inspires us at DCWD to work harder for our customers."

Gamboa lamented the fact that some sectors are not happy with how DCWD is rendering their service, which in other areas are being hailed. In a casual talk Saturday, Gamboa said they first hesitated in making the Iligan resolution public but said it's high time that the public know the accolades they are getting from other areas just so as to prove that their water district here in Davao City is still the among the best water districts in the country.
