Isla Fuego Party!
By Jojie Alcantara
Witerary

THE party called "Island on Fire" (Isla Fuego) started a heat wave among partygoers as more than three hundred boarded boats to Malipano Island in Pearl Farm Beach Resort to kick off the resort's summer debut event.

The white sand beach front was filled with guests in various activities: swimming with Havaianas giant flip-floats, sunbathing on beach mats, learning how to do poi, playing Frisbee, having henna tattoo or massage done, or frolicking in a jetski and banana boat at sea.

Some were content to have their photos taken with flip-floats given away to the lucky 150 guests spotted wearing the famous slippers, along with freebies of coppertone beach mats and lotions.

Meanwhile, Rhonson and I happily clicked our shutters away at the pleasing view of sunset and poi dancers in silhouette.

At the Malipano's island front, the party starts off with dinner buffet, and overflowing free drinks from Coke Zero and San Miguel Beer.

A fashion show highlight featured the models of Glam Model House in summer attires created by Manila designer Twinkle Ferraren, and matching pairs of new Havaianas designs, which were also being sold at the Havaianas Lounge in the area.

While the party sizzled with music from DJ Tone of Urban Club, El Quinto Drumbeaters and Popong Landero Organization, the night was lightened up by the Floetry Firedancers who performed on the shore.

The fun grew with contests like Limbo Rock and Coke Zero drinking contest.
Needless to say, among six contestants of men and women, I won the game as I easily gulped a glass of Coke Zero in seconds (and burped in triumph).

Rhonson will casually tell anybody that I can down a 1.5 liter of Coke at a moment's notice. My editor Nelson will also tell you that a few years back in another beach party, I downed a huge Hungarian sausage and won the contest in a snap. But why am I telling you this.

Kudos to sales manager Gel Ferrer and executive assistant manager Benjie Banzon who fussed over our table and peppered us with draft beer and mixed drinks to no end.

More prizes were given away in the evening, while program hosts Eureka and Mau handed out more prizes from sponsors and gift certificates.

Co-presented by Pearl Farm Beach Resort, Havaianas and Twinkle Ferraren, Isla Fuego Party was sponsored by San Miguel, Coke Zero, Metrolifestyle Fitness Center and Spa, BPI Express Credit, Mama Coco's Hawaiian Lip Balm, Taal Vista Hotel, Eden Nature Park, Marco Polo Davao, Damosa Land & Damosa Gateway, Midtown Printing Corporaton, Wind & Wave Davao, Coppertone, Portraits Photo Studio, UR97, Killerbee 89.1, Zee Lifestyle Magazine and the newly launched M Magazine.

Pearl Farm Resort, managed by Fuego Hotels & Properties Management Corporation, offers day tours and vacation packages for the family, and now has weekly themed nights like Mindanao Night (Tuesdays), Pirates' Night (Friday), and Acoustic Night (Saturday), which treat guests to live music, entertainment, and good food.
