Quake rocks Mati, Davao Oriental

AN EARHQUAKE that recorded a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale rocked Davao Oriental at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

Based on the report from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology 11 (Phivolcs), the epicenter of the earthquake was located some 270 kilometers Southeast of Mati City, the capital of Davao Oriental.

No damages have been reported and Phivolcs did not raise any tsunami alert.

In March this year, Phivolcs reported there were at least 19 earthquakes between March 3 and 22. The strongest earthquake reported recorded a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale and the epicenter was located 175 kilometers off the coast of Mati, Davao Oriental.
