Tuesday, April 29, 2008 Israeli cleared of illegal recruitment By Rhodamae M. Hernandez
THE Regional Trial Court Branch 14 dismissed the charges filed against an Israeli national accused of illegally recruiting and demanding money from a Filipino applicant for work abroad last year because his accuser backed out.
RTC Branch 14 presiding Judge George Omelio cleared Rame Samih Hamiadan, of 324 Guava Street in Sto. Domingo II, Bo. Pampanga, Lanang, Davao City, after the complainant, Alan Montero Bacolod Jr. of Davao City, submitted his affidavit of desistance.
City prosecutor Victoriano M. Bello Jr., who was assigned with RTC branch 14, said they cannot pursue the case because the complainant was no longer interested to testify.
Court records showed the suspect and the complainant met in September 2007 during which the respondent introduced himself as the owner of Bright Star Manpower Agency.
Bacolod said he told Hamiadan that he was interested in applying for a job overseas and when told that Hamiadan needed waiters for London International Hotel with a rate of $2,700 a month, Bacolod applied for the job.
He has already paid a total amount pf P325,000 when he found out that the visa Hamiadan gave him was fake.
He said that when Hamaidan continued to demand for payment, he went to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI-Semro). This led to the suspect's arrest and filing of a case against him.
