OVER 200 stores nationwide threw a pizza party, dubbed as the Taste Drive, to officially launch a pizza chain's newest product -- the Greenwich Overloaded Pizzas -- on April 23.
We attended the taste drive at SM City Davao's outlet of the country's top pizza chain where our tummies were "overloaded" with the lip-smacking and mouth-watering slices of the new products.
We were among the more than 25,000 Greenwich customers nationwide --from Tuguegarao to General Santos City -- who were treated to more than 100,000 slices of the new Overloaded Pizzas, another innovation to excite the palate.
This new pizza invention are part of Greenwich's successful strategy to come up with inventive and delicious products that appeal to the young, modern Filipinos' sense of adventure, their curious palates and their preference for what's out of the ordinary.
Overloaded Pizzas were made available in the market in March. Since then, Greenwich has sold nearly four million slices of pizzas, making it the "treat of choice for modern young Filipinos' with a taste for originality."
A product of a study commissioned by Greenwich last year, revealing that 84 percent of Filipinos choose pizza with lots of toppings, these pizza masterpieces piled high with the choicest meats, cheeses and other fresh ingredients.
The Overloaded Pizzas come in two variants -- the Greenwich Special Overload and the Greenwich New Meat & Cheese Overload -- both giving a rich experience that explodes with flavors and engages every single taste bud.
The new Greenwich Meat and Cheese Overload has layer upon layer of Italian sausage, ground beef, pepperoni, salami strips, bacon, parmesan and mozzarella cheese; while the new Greenwich Special Overflowed boasts of three times more premium meats, fresh vegetables and 100 percent mozzarella cheese toppings. Both variants also come in thin-crust versions that are still guaranteed to fill up even the biggest member of the barkada.
Endorsing these new food delights are some of the most recognizable young faces on television, including the self-confessed foodie and matinee idol John Lloyd Cruz and hip young chefs JL Cang, Niño Logarta, Dario Lopez, Mitchie Sison and Jonah Trinidad of Ka-Toque Lutong Barkada fame.
John Lloyd stars in the new commercial featuring the overloaded pizzas and his gang of three, while costumers can meet the Ka-Toque chefs through various events.
Other than the taste drive, Greenwich also embarked on a series of activities to highlight the brand's food superiority and popularity.
Another major activity is Pizza Fridays, a pizza party that "roams" from office to office to give barkadas a break from work with food and games.
There will also be a radio contest to give listeners a chance to have their own Pizza Friday party.
