Sunday, May 04, 2008 Nur's plan draws mixed reactions
MORO National Liberation Front (MNLF) chair Nur Misuari is reportedly planning to make Davao City his new home after being allowed to post bail by the court for his rebellion case.
In a report by www.luwaran.com, Misuari allegedly wanted to live in Davao City for reasons still not clear. Aside from Davao City, Cotabato City is said to be in Misuari's list as well.
However, the report was met with varied reactions from Dabawenyos. Some welcomed Misuari with open arms, saying it's his right to live where he wants in the country.
Others expressed some hesitation, saying though Misuari has indeed the right to reside here, he must conform to all the laws and not bring his "army" in the city.
"It's his right. I don't think that Misuari will be a security problem if ever he resides in Davao City," Compostela Valley Governor Arturo Uy said.
"Staying here as ordinary citizen, there is no law that will stop him. But if his stay here carries military components with armed operation, for me, it must be properly looked into by the authorities," Davao City Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang said. (BOT)
