He said the Batucan brothers, Neptali II and John Ray, of Toril along with Rowelyn Joy Acedo of Buhangin are seeing action in the two-day meet sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines.

He said the tournament would have categories for under-20, under-16, under-14 and under-12 years old and below players.

Registration is ongoing for the competition. Cash prizes, medals and trophies are at stake for the winners.

The champions in each category will go home with P3,500 each, while the runners-ups will receive P2,00 each.

Participants will play in a five-round Swiss System format tournament sponsored by Primovit Multivatins Inc. and GS Citimall, in coordination with Davao City Sports Council Inc., Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office, Blue Knight Chess Club, Metro Davao Chess Association, and NCFP.

Tabudlong said a player must purchase Primovit Multi-Vitamins worth P300.
