Monday, May 05, 2008 Samal bridge a 'welcome' infra development By Carlo P. Mallo
THE construction of a bridge connecting the Island Garden City of Samal with Davao City is a welcome development, especially for real estate developers in the island city.
According to Francis Ceballos, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Landco Pacific Corporation, the proposed construction of a bridge will be a most welcome development.
"It will provide the convenience of travel from Davao City," Ceballos said.
Ceballos said the Island Garden City of Samal and Davao City are two entities that are closely related and they must be connected with a bridge to further speed up development in the two areas.
Landco, one of the country's premier real estate developers, is developing the 31-hectare property of the Anflocor Group of Companies in the island city into an upscale residential-resort-hotel complex dubbed as the Playa Azalea.
One of the primary concerns of Landco at the moment is the lack of a stable source of power in the island city. Ceballos said the electric cooperative in the island could not yet fully supply the energy demands that they will need during a full-blown development in the area.
