THE first-ever media forum initiated by the Davao City Council is scheduled to hold its maiden edition on May 14.

The event is headed by Vice Mayor Sara Duterte.

The forum dubbed as the "SP Media Hour" will be held each Wednesday thereafter.

In a consultation with local media practitioners from print, radio and broadcast held Monday, Provincial Board Secretary Zuleika Lopez said this would provide a venue for the issues to be discussed thoroughly.

Lopez said they are soliciting suggestions to make it more effective.

"Meron tayong scheduled topics for the week but we will also have councilors who are involved in the hottest issues. We will be having three to four councilors per week," Lopez said.

She added that the forum is also a way to avoid the prevailing practice of dragging out councilors from the session for interviews.

The local media requested for a notice as to who are the councilors present for the week. They also requested to be given copies of issues discussed for each week. Copies of important documents for reference were also asked which Lopez approved. (GLP)
