Task force denies being within slain datu's vicinity

THE former Task Force Davao chief says it's impossible for one of his personnel to have carried out the strafing of the house of Datu Dominador Diarog at Sitio Kahusayan in Barangay Manuel Guianga last April 29 since not one of his men was within the vicinity at that time.

The New People's Army (NPA) has accused the TFD of having a hand in the death of Datu Diarog because it has trained Cafgus under televangelist Pastor Apollo C. Qiboloy, which the NPAs accuse of having perpetrated the killing.

"None of my personnel was out during the time of the incident," Col. Alan Luga, former TF Davao chief, said in an interview with Sun.Star last Monday.

Luga added that the initial investigations of the military showed it was the rebel group that was behind the strafing of the house of Diarog while the datu and his family were fast asleep. The datu was killed while his wife and two children were wounded in the incident.

"Diarog is believed to have a blood debt with the rebel group," Luga added.

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has already called for an investigation on the incident, which has dragged the name of his spiritual adviser as being the mastermind in the killing allegedly due to feud over a two-hectare parcel of land. (CPM)
