Davao Sur steps up info campaign

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Davao del Sur is requiring all the business name applicants in the province to attend in the three-hour seminar before their business name certificates are issued.

This initiative, which has apparently become a best practice in DTI Davao del Sur, is envisioned to increase compliance to Fair Trade Laws and other related trade and industry laws among establishments in the province.

During the first quarter of this year, the agency has already conducted 30 Fair Trade Laws seminars/orientations among 319 business name registrants coming from all over Davao del Sur.

Since its launching last year, DTI has been able to establish and strengthen a good background of cooperation with the local business community especially that they become more aware of the various their rights as well as those of the consumers. It added that by widening the consumer education and information campaign, consumers are protected further as the businessmen recognize their rights, as stipulated in the Consumer Act of the Philippines or Republic Act (RA) 7394.

The seminar is conducted Monday and Wednesday afternoon at the DTI Davao del Sur Conference Room. A staff from the agency's Consumer Welfare and Trade Regulation Division (CWTRD) facilitates the seminar/orientation.

DTI in Davao del Sur province hopes that this initiative will continue to harvest good feedbacks and results among its clients.
