Saturday, May 10, 2008 Rebels harass Scaa outpost By Ben O. Tesiorna
ABOUT 10 fully armed members of the New People's Army (NPA) fired shots at the Special Cafgu (Scaa) post in Tugbok, Davao City Friday.
Reports reaching Sun.Star Davao showed that the rebels fired shots at the Scaa post in sitio Sarro, Barangay Manuel Guianga at around 5:20 a.m. of May 9.
The rebels were said to be under the command of Alias Jasmin of the Front Committee 51 of the NPA.
Cafgu from the nearby Tamayong detachment arrived to reinforce the Scaa post but rebels have already left by then.
Hot pursuit operation is ongoing as of this writing Friday.
Manuel Guianga has been in the news after the house of a Bagobo-Klata datu was strafed, killing the datu and wounding his wife and two daughters.
The military has blamed the NPA, while the police have hinted at a land conflict.
The NPA, however, directly pointed to Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy as the one behind the killing. They claimed that the pastor's minions have been trying to grab the datu's two-hectare land. The pastor has denied this accusation.
