Saturday, May 10, 2008 BKCC under-14 chessfest unfolds
SOME 30 players are expected to compete in the 29th edition of the BKCC-DCSC Under 14 Rapid Age Group Chess Championship set at 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Blue Knight Chess Club along Bonifacio Street.
The five-round Swiss System format tournament allows each player 25 minutes to finish the game.
Trophies and chess instructional video compact discs (CDs) will be awarded to the winners. Registration fee is P35 per player.
Club director Ronnie Tabudlong, meanwhile, said registration is ongoing for the Primovit and Gaisano South Citimall Age Group Chess Championship set to June 27 and 28.
He said the tournament will have categories for under-20, under-16, under-14 and under-12 years old and below players.
The champions in each category will go home with P3,500 each while the runners-up will receive P2,00 each.
Participants will play in a five-round Swiss System format tournament sponsored by the Primovit Multivatins Inc. and GS Citimall in coordination with the Davao City Sports Council, Inc., Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office, BKCC, Metro Davao Chess Association and NCFP.
