THE Regional Trial Court Branch 12 Judge Pelagio Paguican will be handling the case filed against a member of the Philippine National Police for molesting a 16-year-old girl.

Police Officer 2 Mario Mendez Hiponia, 46, a resident of Kaputian in the Island Garden City of Samal was charged with acts of lasciviousness for allegedly molesting the girl inside a bus en-route to Davao City last Friday.

Prosecutor Mariam April Mastura found probable cause to hold him for court trial based on the complaint of the victim.

In an affidavit, the victim claimed that at around 2:45 p.m. last May 2, she was with her aunt on board a bus on their way to Davao City.

She said a man later identified as the suspect boarded the bus somewhere in Carmen, Davao del Norte, and sat beside her.

She was dozing off when she felt a hand touch her breast and then her private parts.

She called out to her aunt who confronted the suspect.

But the man, instead of apologizing, even threatened them saying he was a policeman.

The accused was arrested by the Task Force Davao at the terminal in Ecoland, Matina.

Mastura recommended a bailbond of P12,000 for the respondent's temporary liberty. (RMH)
