A massive active low-pressure area is seen over the eastern part of the country.
It is expected to continue bringing in rains and winds over the entire week.
Based on the weather report of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the typhoon continues to move north at a pace of only 20 kilometers per hour.
The typhoon has also strengthened with maximum sustained winds reaching 185 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 220 kilometers per hour.
The Pagasa issued a warning against sea travel as coastal waters across the country will be moderate to rough with moderate to strong winds coming from Southwest directions.
Temperatures in Southern Mindanao will be relatively cool ranging from a low of 21 degrees Celsius to a high of only 29 degrees Celsius.
Overall, Southern Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms especially during the afternoon and early evenings. (Carlo P. Mallo)
