FOUR Davao City triathletes bagged silver medals in the ITU Subic International Triathlon 2008 Sunday at the Subic Bay Freeport.
Holiday Gym & Spa bet Paulo Dino Ouano clocked two hours, 29 minutes, and 22 seconds for 16th place overall, but submitted the second bets time in the male 25 to 29 years old category.
Samba's Paul Villocino, 18th overall with 2:30.22, grabbed the second spot in 20-24 category, while Leslie Herrero, 50th over-all with 2:49.29, finished runner-up in the female 20-24 event.
Ernesto "Bong" Rivera also salvaged silver in the 55-59 Division.
Davao bets Ryan Sia, Felina Tadiaman and Cossette Plaza also competed in the prestigious race organized by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (Trap).
Sia timed 2:51.2 to land 83rd in the overall ranking, while Tadiaman registered 3:13.53 for the 136th spot and Plaza clocked 3:30.37 for the 163rd slot.
"I strongly believe that a lot of potential athletes could be discovered if only they were given a chance to shine by supporting them and exposing them in these kind of races," Ouano said.
"We were amazed by the hospitality and trust the Sunkist Trihard have given us. They allowed us to banner their team in the team competition. But our accumulative time fell short against stronger times like that of Polo Tri headed by Alaska's Ace Fred Uytengso and Fernando Zobel de Ayala," he added.
Ouano thanked Sunkist Trihard, Holiday Gym and Spa, Metro Lifestyle, OOCL, Greg Banzon, Victor Magno, and other personalities for supporting their stints.
