City Council condoles with Aboitizes
By Grace L. Plata

THE Davao City Council condoled with the family of Alfonso Y. Aboitiz through a resolution unanimously passed in Tuesday's session.

Councilor Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz, proponent of the resolution, cited Aboitiz's contribution to the development of Davao City including the establishment of Central 911, the adoption of city schools, and allowing the use of their property as a marine turtle sanctuary.

Residents of Barangay 5-A also signed a manifesto of condolences, which will be sent to the Aboitiz family in Cebu.

Councilor Edgar Ibuyan, former Barangay 5-A captain, said this is a fitting gesture for a man who has ensured that the residents in the barangay have access to electricity.

"I personally asked him for help especially for the Lower Madapo area, which used to have no access to power, and he did not hesitate to give us the needed immediate assistance," Ibuyan said.

Aboitiz, former president and chief operating officer of Davao Light and Power Company, died last Saturday at 47 of undisclosed causes.
