Garcia: Green Fees?
By Imee Garcia

THIS week, my topic is about green fees.

For the ones who do not know anything about golf, a green fee, is a fee that is not red, blue or yellow. Haha! Okay, seriously now--a green fee is "the amount of money a club charges to play the golf course. The green fee often varies depending on time of week, time of day and status of the golfer." Simply put--if you want to play in a golf course, you pay the green fee.

Arroyo Watch: Sun.Star blog on President Arroyo

If you are the type who sticks to playing in just one golf course, I am sure you don't know how much the green fees are on the other courses. If you get a call from a friend, a relative or a business associate and he says he is coming to town and he wants you to take him golfing, you need to know how much the green fees are so you'll know how much you're going to spend. Playing during weekdays is cheaper in some courses. Playing with a member is also cheaper. If your friend is not a local, be prepared to spend much more.

I just realized, golf makes use of many colors--green fees, blue tees, red tees, yellow or gold tees, white stakes, red stakes, yellow stakes, etc. If you faint because of too much heat, you "black-out." If you get hit by a golf ball, you get "black and blue." So who says golf is dull? Absolutely not!

Here is a list of green fees from the four golf courses in Davao.
