Saturday, May 24, 2008 Davao fighters to face Aussies in martial arts
TWO Australians will test the mettle of Davao City fighters in the main event of the First Fury Fighting Muay Thai/Mixed Martial Arts on June 27 at the Matina Town Square (MTS) Tent.
Organizer Bambi Posadas, who guested at the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn Thursday, said the Aussies will fight in the heavyweight and welterweight categories against Louie Abucayan and Angelito Manguray.
Posadas said a total of 10 fights would be featured in the one-day event.
"A lot of fighters from all over Mindanao and Visayas wanted to compete in this event but we have to screen them first so we could come up with the best match-ups and an entertaining show for the audience," Posadas said.
He said an international referee from Perth, Australia would conduct the main two fights.
"We will set up a trauma team of doctors and nurses to ensure the safety of the fighters. We will also coordinate with 911 Emergency Response Team," Posadas said. (MLSA)
