Tuesday, May 27, 2008 Outdoor exercises for health, fitness
FROM swinging a hula-hoop in a park to doing yoga, Pilates or dance exercises on the beach, there are many reasons that exercising outdoors from time to time can do wonders for you. Experts say exercising in natural light, getting free Vitamin D from the sunshine, and breathing in fresh air certainly is very healthy.
MetroLifestyle Fitness Center & Spa offers a wide variety of outdoor activities.
Last May 11, the Fitness Center organized a "fitness on the beach for Moms" event, in partnership with the Pearl Farm Beach Resort.
Moms got to exercise in the calming beauty of Mother Nature. They listened to the sound of the waves, enjoyed the greenery of the palm trees and their senses absorbed the surroundings, as they experienced the sights, smell, sounds, and texture of nature while in the process of toning their bodies towards better health.
MetroLifestyle Fitness Center presented a mix of its power classes-the powerbalance, powermoves and powervive. The class was spearheaded by Fitness Director Vicky Javier and backed up by PowerClass Instructors Dolly Chuim, Apple Canlas and Nica Agbayani.
Powerbalance is the Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates workout that leaves you feeling long, strong, centered and calm. Powervive is a low-impact group exercise integrating aerobic exercise for heart fitness, resistance training for strength and stability, and stretching and mobility work. While Powermoves, soon to be launched as the newest addition to MetroLifestyle's powerclasses incorporates all types of sexy moves from Latin dance, funky, jazz, striptease and belly dancing created to coax out the sexiness in ones total well-being and the fun in performing.
Aside from getting into outdoor fitness, MetroLifestyle also encourages its members to participate in the conservation of our natural resources. On May 17, volunteers from Edge Outdoor Shop & MetroLifestyle's members and staff gathered at Penaplata, Island Garden City of Samal to participate in the 1st MetroLifestyle Coastal Clean up.
The heavy heat of the sun did not prevent the participants from participating in the noble mission of clearing rubbish from the coastal waters of Penaplata.
Sacks of garbage, composed mostly of driftwood, packaging and fishing nets, were hauled.
MetroLifestyle is geared towards a campaign of helping its members develop environmental consciousness, at the same time hone their own individual experience of the balance between physical fitness and nature. Be one with us in achieving this goal. Enroll now.
