Tuesday, May 27, 2008 Murder suspect nabbed inside GenSan hospital
A MURDER suspect who is long wanted by authorities was finally arrested inside a hospital in General Santos City.
Reynaldo Langedo alias Panday was arrested by elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) inside the General Santos City Hospital while he was recuperating from a stab wound, which he sustained during a fight in Barangay Culunan, Malita last week.
Davao del Sur CIDG Chief Royina Garma said Langedo has a pending warrant of arrest for the murder of a German national four years ago and the murder of a student of the Digos City National High School of the same year.
It was learned that Langedo had been elusive to the police authorities even though he is just hiding in Davao del Sur.
The stabbing incident involving Langedo was first reported to the Davao del Sur provincial police office with only the stabbing suspect's full name, a certain Jessie Allawan. The victim Langedo was only mentioned as a certain Panday.
Reports reaching Sun.Star Davao showed though that it was actually Langedo who shot Allawan first hitting him on the neck. Allawan then stabbed Langedo in retaliation.
Sensing that he might be the wanted murder suspect, Garma ordered her men to locate Langedo.
Garma also contacted General Santos City Police and CIDG Gensan for help.
Superintendent Marcelo Pintac and Inspector Amante Suriaga acted on Garma's request and located Langedo at room 206 of the General Santos City Hospital, who was has just undergone operation.
Langedo was said to be with three police security escorts when arrested. The police escorts were identified as SPO3 Stephen Batacan, SPO2 Soilo Iballo, and PO2 Reinhard Albarracin.
The three policemen said they were merely following orders from their superior officer to escort Langedo all the way from Malita, Davao de Sur to General Santos City.
In a telephone interview Monday morning, Davao del Sur provincial director Cesario Darantinao said the three police escorts were there specifically to make sure that Langedo would not escape since he is involved in last week's stabbing incident in Malita.
He added that it was Langedo's family who requested for him to be brought to the General Santos hospital instead of Digos or Davao City hospitals. (BOT)
