MetroLifestyle summer classes end with a bang

SUMMER vacation has ended. MetroLifestyle Fitness Center @ Spa would like to give two-thumbs up to all the children who did well in their chosen summer activities, be it in sports or in performing arts.

Aside from that, MetroLifestyle would also to give the children's parents pats on the backs for the tirelessly support and encouragement they gave to their children to engage in healthy activities.

The MetroLifestyle Summer Classes are aimed at teaching the balance between practical life skills and the enjoyment of sports and the arts. In celebration of this achievement, the Metro Lifestyle Fitness Center & Spa held a two-day Culminating Activities for its Summer Class students with ages ranging from 4 to 18 years old.

On May 17, the The MetroLifestyle Invitational Moo Duk Kwan Exhibition and Power Jam-Hiphop Recital were staged at the Gaisano South Citimall; while the Metro Lifestyle Interclass and Tune-Up Sparring Competition was held on May 21, at the Matina Town Square-Tent.

The Power Jam-HipHop Recital last May 17 showcased two groups of young followers of the hiphop craze. Power Jam Instructor Bonn Sarabia presented a Christina-inspired Hiphop version of "Stand By Me," with his young prot‚g‚s Gabriel Loseo, Marvin Bringas, Rachel Allen, Iza and Mikhaela Doug.

Another group of young hip-hoppers under the training of Power Jam Instructor Mobie Escamis, grooved to the tune of "Get Low" with his equally charming students Sarah Mahan, Maan Bermudo, Danelle Filipinas, Dizza Filipinas, Kimberly Ho, Angelie Quirog, Ada Guerra, Matthew Rosello, Kandice Limbaga, Kayla Limbaga, and Diego Osabel.

Part of the Moo Duk Kwan Curriculum is to show the progress of the kids when they start as White Belt to higher belt practitioners. Moo Duk Kwan teaches different aspects of martial arts, namely physical art or physical fitness, discipline, self-defense and sports and competition. The kids presented basic to advance forms that they learned, including judo falls, front rolls, long jumps, high jumps and practical self-defense applications.

To make the event complete, a Power Combat Mall Exercise for adult fitness enthusiasts followed the kids' presentation. This only shows that learning the basics of martial arts fused into an aerobic exercise is not too late for adults at their prime! Participants got a treat during the raffle draw that included an overnight stay for two at Hof Gorei Beach Resort, Metro Lifestyle Bags, Bahia Body Massage Gift Certificate, and others.

Last May 21, Metro Lifestyle Moo Duk Kwan Club, Ladislawa Moo Duk Kwan Summer Class and BeeFit Moo Duk Kwan Club students met again for the MetroLifestyle Interclass & Tune-Up Sparring Competition held at the Matina Town Square.

The director of Philippine Challenge, Pastor Gary Visitacion was the Guest Speaker at the event. On how to make the most of any sport activity where winning or losing is inevitable, he shared three things to remember: that it is only a sport, make sure you enjoy doing the activity, and always make friends.
A series of Interclass Sparring Bouts proceeded after a short prayer by Ptr. Bogs Nartatez. Not only that kids learn to fight in terms of physical display of power but most importantly, they learn Christian values of fighting fairly for what is good and right.

"Positive reinforcement to a child is very important," said Club Instructor Nell Jone Astudillo to remind everyone present, adding that we should remember "that young kids are not 'little' adults, their performances today matters with lots of moral boosting from parents."

Medals and Certificates were awarded at the closing ceremonies to honor a child of excellence and to provide participants souvenirs for many more wonderful summers to come.

Martial Arts Class (Moo Duk Kwan and Muay Thai) and Hiphop Classes are being offered year-round at the Metro Lifestyle Fitness Center & Spa located at F.Torres St. corner Jacinto Ext., Davao City.
