Prices of vegetables also seen to increase
By Joy Romares-Sevilla

PRICES of selected vegetables in local markets in Davao City are expected to increase this month.

In a quick visit at the "Bagsakan Center" of the Bankerohan public market Monday, prices of selected vegetables like squash, ampalaya, eggplant, carrots, tomato, bell pepper, and potato have decreased compared to its prices last week.

But both Emalyn Ramos and Tata Maliktad, vegetable vendors in the area, said prices of these vegetables are expected to increase gradually in the next few weeks.

"There are enough stocks of vegetables even if it rained for several days last week. This is the reason that prices of vegetables are low because there is enough supply," Ramos told Sun.Star Davao.

"Prices of vegetables usually increase when classes open, but sometimes it will depend on the retailers whether they will increase the prices or not. It will also depend on the scarcity or abundance of the supply," Maliktad said.

As of Monday, prices of squash are pegged at P5 to P6 per kilogram, which is lower by P1 compared last week. Prices of ampalaya, eggplant, and tomato are placed at P20 per kilo; carrots, P25 per kilo, bell pepper, P55, and potato, P40 per kilogram.

It was learned that prices of tomato, ampalaya, eggplant, carrots, bell pepper, and tomato are lowered by P5 compared to last week.
