THE biggest GET Open Golf Tournament, now on its 20th year, will unfold at the Apo Golf and Country Club on Sunday with distinguished guests lined up for the ceremonial tee-off.
Organizers' spokesperson Macario "Bong" Gonzaga said this is the biggest GET tournament.
"We have P1 million as hole-in-one prize at hole No. 4. A rare P500,000 cash, two motorcycles, a Phillips home theater, and 25-inch color television will also be at stake at holes No. 7, 11 and 17," he said.
Gonzaga told members of the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) in their weekly forum at the Tower Inn Thursday that nobody has won a hole-in-one major prize in the past 19 staging of the golfing event that benefits some 60 scholars at the Mt. Apo Science School Foundation.
Top UMBN executive Bobet Castillo, meanwhile, added that a rough estimate of P300,000 from players' registration fees will go directly to the Mt. Apo Science School Foundation scholars.
