Securitybank shocks Metrobank in Bankers Cup By Charles Raymond A. Maxey
SECURITYBANK displayed firepower in crushing defending champion Metrobank, 98-83, at the end of the first of the double-round round eliminations Saturday in the Bankers Cup 2008 basketball tournament.
Four players scored in double figures, led by Julius Parian's 22 points, as Securitybank won for only the second time in four games. Providing Parian with scoring support were Leonel Mora and Bern Cubillo, who scored 20 and 18, respectively. Elicor also added 13.

Metrobank got 27 points from Neil Te Eng Fo, but the defending champions just couldn't stop the rampaging Securitybank cagers. Metrobank dropped to 4-2.
The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) kept the top spot in team standings with a 6-1 card following its 106-82 trashing of hapless Enterprise Bank.
Banco de Oro and the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation also turned back separate opponents. BDO downed Plantersbank, 106-98, and the RCBC dribblers whipped Citibank, 87-82.
