Plantersbank cagers win in Bankers Cup 2008

PLANTERSBANK used a searing run in the fourth quarter to thwart Citibank, 82-65, in the resumption Saturday of the Bankers Cup 2008 basketball tournament.
Kim Villanueva, Arvin Leong and Jonard Movilla engineered the telling run where Armanz Hao produced four straight points as Planstersbank posted its fourth win in seven games.

Villanueva and Leong had 18 points apiece for Plantersbank. Movilla added 11.
The Bank of the Philippines Islands and Rizal Memorial Banking Corporation, meanwhile, remained on top of the team standings after beating separate rivals.
BPI downed Metrobank, 90-80, while RCBC beat Banco de Oro, 88-79, in a pair of exciting matches.
BPI is sporting a 7-1 card to keep the solo lead. RCBC and BDO both carry 5-3 slates going into the final six games of the elimination phase.
Michael Ong and Sai and Rommel Lee's defense helped thwart a BDO run down the stretch that put RCBC in good stead.
