Rebels, Army clash in Talaingod

PHILIPPINE Army soldiers clashed with the New People's Army (NPA) in the hinterland town of Talaingod, Davao del Norte, Tuesday afternoon.

The firefight started around 4:30 p.m. and raged on for more than an hour.

One M16 rifle was recovered by the government troops in the clash site after the rebels withdrew towards different directions.

The Talaingod encounter is just one of the series of armed encounters between the Army and the NPA this year. Firefights also happened in Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, Davao City and Davao del Sur. (BOT)
