Ford GT: Fantastic, historic automobile

THEY call it a fantastic car. And why not, the Ford GT is indeed exceptional. Not only is this sports car beautifully made, it is also rich in car racing history.

More than 40 years ago, the Ford classic GT40 challenged Ferarri in the famous 24-hour Le Mans race and zoomed its way to victory, becoming the world's best automobile in endurance race.

Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company relived that racing glory in 1966 when the company acquired one of only 2,011 Ford GT units that exist in the world today. With its design inspired by the 1960s Ford classic and legendary GT40 and now fitted with Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar tires, the Ford GT is a machine perfected to provide drivers and race enthusiasts a terrific ride right off the starting block up to the finish line.

"It's a fantastic car," said Filipino racing champion JP Tuason during Goodyear's unveiling of the famed Ford GT to the media last Saturday at the Marco Polo Hotel.

No less than David Morin, Goodyear Philippines president and managing director, led the presentation of the valued Ford GT to journalists.

Amazed by the car, journalists took turns in having their photos taken with the Ford GT, Tuason and the Goodyear family.

From Davao, the Ford GT will be transported to selected venues around the country until the end of this month.

Morin said he admires the car so much and vowed that Goodyear will always be there to support and work with aspiring racers.

Morin also boasted that Goodyear remains on top in as far as producing and selling quality tires are concerned.

"We are proud to tell you that we remain the No. 1 market leader," Morin said. (CRAM)
