WHO'S day is it anyway?
Today, the country is united once more. Oh, how we all wish that it would last forever! But after this bout every testosterone-ridden being is eagerly awaiting for, everything goes back to normal. How unfortunate.
But heck, more than the boxing fight of the year; it's the few hours of peace that this country will be enjoying. Everyone's eyes are glued to the screens, from the 12-inch to the silver screen projection and to some, maybe the transistor radio -- it's the ears for this.
Tuba, cerveza, or whatever alcoholic drink that is being sipped at this hour of the day to make the viewing more pleasurable, heighten the excitement and perhaps, make them feel more macho. After all, it is a man's slugging event.
And who are the contenders on this special day? First up, our Pangbansang Kamao, celebrity endorser, recording artist and the reigning Super Featherweight titleholder -- Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao. On the other corner, there is the "bigger man" and the current WBC Lightweight Champion, David Diaz and unknown to all, is the third and last contender on this special day -- our very own patron Saint -- Peter and to make it more Filipino or Espanol, it's San Pedro! A sensible entry since this day is officially sanctioned for him.
Three cornered fight. Who gets beaten to pulp? Who will wear the belt? And who will reign supreme? The chatter and speculation increases. It should prove to be high-octane fight. Will it be Pacman Pacquiao or will it be the Dangerous Diaz or the San Pedro?
