THE people of gold-rich Compostela Valley has something to glow about and shine, pardon the pun. They have earned the honors of owning the country's biggest ring.
The Solidarity Ring, a symbol of peace and unity in the province, was initiated by Governor Arturo T. Uy with gold donations from small and big miners, officials, and private individuals of Compostella Valley.
Weighing approximately one kilo and 500 grams of gold and silver, it is now on display in the capitol of ComVal. It is said to have an estimated value of P1.5 million.
The creative artists behind this craft are husband and wife team of Joel and Frellie Asis in Davao who has a shop called GlitterWorks Jewellery at Gaisano Mall.
Frellie supervised the design and production of the ring, and was done within two weeks.
During the Bulawan Festival (formerly Anibina), Governor Uy proudly stated that he ring symbolizes a historical unity of a province once divided by political intrigues and conflicts for nine years, and that there's hope of healing and a brighter future for a territory that is rich in natural resources and minerals.
