Age-group netfest in Digos City

A TOTAL of 134 entries confirmed participation to the 3rd Mayor Arsenio Latasa Age-Group Tennis Championships set on July 12 and 13 at the NFA Tennis Courts in Digos City as of Tuesday.

Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) regional vice-president Juanito "Titong" Cansino Jr. said netters from Surigao, Malita, Island Garden City of Samal, South Cotabato, General Santos, Davao Oriental, Cagayan de Oro, and Davao City are joining.

"The host city will field over 50 players in the two-day competition that offers Philta ranking points and tennis equipment to the winners," he said.

He said 13-year-old Joshua Miranda from Tandag, Surigao del Sur signed up for the event along with Malita's Ellen Mae Ayao, Justine Griño, Wilmer Ayao and Abegail Icoy, Igacos' Christian Fel Lopez, Elvie Lopez Jr. and Lenelyn Milo, Polomolok's Kurt and Cindy Gerapusco and Paolo Javier.

Davao City, meanwhile, will parade the services of Juan Paolo Cansino, Andrei Dizon, James Sumaylo, Rodimar Ibarreta, Jonathan Palac, Michael and Inday Accion, among others.

The meet features the 10-under unisex, boys and girls 12-under, 14-under, 16-under and 18-under. It is organized as part of the city-wide grassroots development program of City Mayor Arsenio Latasa.

Club president and the mayor's executive secretary Michael Latasa will grace the opening rites along with adviser Al Jialon. (MLSA)
