STUDENTS, school officials in tertiary education offering tourism, and hospitality courses, as well as labor leaders, and the business community are enticed to join the one-day jobs tourism fair at SM City Davao on Sunday.
Sonia Garcia, regional director of the Department of Tourism (DOT), said Wednesday that the jobs tourism fair is just one of the features of the Mindanao Travel and Tour Expo (MTTE) 2008, which is slated on August 8 to 10.
"The jobs fair is in preparation for a bigger one that we will do next year. It will be a good venue and offer for our fresh graduates next year," Garcia said.
She added that there is significant number of clients for tourism and potential clients for the tourism sector, which is why this year's MTTE if more focused on human resources events.
"Tourism is really a growing market in all aspects, its development should be holistic to the point that when tourists visit, they can feel na talagang alagang-alaga sila (they are being well taken cared of)," Garcia said.
She added that the MTTE 2008 will be held side by side with the 7th Mindanao Human Resource Skills Development Summit, which is tagged as the biggest conference of school operators and administrators of Mindanao.
"We will bring in about 500 school operators and owners all over Mindanao, this is a rare opportunity for them to talk with managers of other tourism schools," she said. (JGRS)
