Saturday, July 05, 2008 Project to streamline securing biz permits to be launched
A PROJECT that will streamline the bureaucratic requirement in securing business licenses and permits will be launched next week.
This project is other than the approach used by the regional office of the Department of Trade and Industry-National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center (DTI-Nerbac), and will harmonize the database of all systems of the national and local governments in the country.
Teolulo Pasawa, DTI provincial director and Nerbac director for Southern Mindanao, said the project was dubbed as the Philippine Business Registry Project and will be launched in Metro Manila by second week of July.
"This project is an anti-red tape initiative of the National Competitiveness Council in which DTI is also the convener," Pasawa told Sun.Star, adding that the National Competitiveness Council is comprised of selected national government agencies and business organizations nationwide.
"With this inter-agency initiative, business owners can secure their business licenses and permits without the hassle because the systems in government agencies concerned with releasing permits will be uniformed," Pasawa said.
In comparison to Nerbac's approach, which is the Single Window for Investment Facilitation and Trade (Swift), Pasawa said the project is more upgraded since the system of the database will be nationalized.
He added that Nerbac will also use the database system of the project.
Meanwhile, Pasawa said all DTI regional offices in the Philippines have already set their respective Nerbac unit.
"The Nerbac system is already rolled out all over the country now since first quarter of this year. We are grateful that other regions replicated our system here in Davao Region," Pasawa said.
He said that after the launching of the Nerbac in DTI-Southern Mindanao two years ago, Nerbac in Cebu City was also established and then followed by other regions in the country. (JGRS)
