THE 3RD Kadayawan Open Tenpin Bowling Tournament fires off from August 14 to 17 at the NCCC Mall's B3 lanes with cash prizes and trophies at stake to the winners.
Dr. Virgilio Magdale of the organizing Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba) said Filipino world bowling champion Paeng Nepomuceno and Bong Coo have been invited to give luster to the three-day tournament.
Magdale, guesting at the regular Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum Thursday at the Tower Inn, said the tournament is being sanctioned by the Philippine Bowling Congress (PBC).
Players from Imus, Cavite, Manila, Cagayan de Oro, and Cebu have confirmed their participation in the city's biggest bowling tournament held to coincide with the Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival which falls in August.
The Masters champion will receive P50,000, while the second and third placers are assured of P20,000 and P10,000, respectively.
The team winner will also pocket P10,000.
So Kim Cheng awardee for tenpin bowling Allan Edulan is expected to lead the charge for the Davao bowlers, who have dominated the event for two years already.
Magdale also named eight-year-old Melanie Kuwahara as the awardee for tenpin bowling among the youth in the coming SKC Awards Night. (CRAM)
