By Joy Romares-Sevilla

AS MARCO Polo Davao turns 10 this year, the hotel is investing a total of P100 million to improve further the quality of its service.

Stanley Lau, Marco Polo Davao general manager, said in Wednesday's edition of the Club 888 press forum that they are starting the renovation in some portions of the hotel to attract more visitors and tourists.

"We allotted P100 million this year for the renovation of the pool, for our new spa, and new rooms," Lau said.

He added that the hotel aims to better serve its clients.

Lau said the Cafe Marco, the hotel's Chinese restaurant, will also be renovated along with the changing of carpets in the hotel.

"We want to create a very, very good hotel in Mindanao," he said.

According to him, the hotel is going to purchase equipment for its gym. "We have the top of the line facilities in our gym," he said.

Lau earlier projected that the number of tourists in the city will increase for the next several months.

He said there is a 10 percent increase in the occupancy rate of the hotel for the first six months of the year.

Lao is expecting the figure to go up with the celebration of a different Kadayawan Festival, which is expected to draw more tourists.
