THE Davao Trade Expo (Date) 2008, the biggest trade exposition in Davao City, promises to surpass its previous year's performance.

It aims to increase the exhibitors' sales this year, both direct and booked, by 25 percent.

Records from Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) showed that Date 2007 exhibitors sales reached to P79,769,118.20.

This year, Date 2008 will intensify marketing and promotion to be able to raise the participation of exhibitors, advertisers, sponsors, and visitors.

DCCCII executive director Conrado Hernaez Jr. said earlier that Date, which is slated in October, will be featuring close to 200 exhibitors that include development-oriented agencies offering financial and technical assistance.

As in the past staging of the trade expo, the involvement of local government units (LGUs) and foreign embassies will also be highlighted.

Last year, the US Embassy conducted the US Catalog Show and showcased a US Pavilion.

The Department of Trade ad Industry (DTI) also collaborated with Date to showcase the champion industry clusters of the region.

Through Date 2008, DCCCII hopes to catalyze strategic business partnerships where they matter most.

"Date 2008 will have indoor and outdoor exhibits, product sampling, business matching and consultations, job fair, and other special events," Hernaez said when he guested at the Club 888 press forum.
