Tuesday, July 22, 2008 Official vows to sanction Air Force men
A TOP official of the Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines vowed that the actions of the two personnel of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) will not be tolerated, if proven to be true.
Major Armand Rico, public information officer of EastMinCom, said they will not tolerate the "bad eggs" of the military.
Amid the public clamor for an apology from and full accountability for the two air force personnel, Rico said an internal investigation is still ongoing within the hierarchy of the PAF.
Last week, two personnel of the PAF here in Davao City were implicated in an alleged child abuse incident after they were accused of singeing the skin of a six-year-old boy with a lighted cigarette.
Based on reports reaching Sun.Star Davao, the boy caught the ire of the two personnel, identified as Manuel Doria and Rexdel Dimaculangan, for playing inside the compound of the PAF at the vicinity of the old airport.
"There is nothing wrong with children playing inside the compound, a number of them are even dependents of AFP personnel," Colonel Isagani Silva told Sun.Star in a previous interview.
The boy, in fact, is the son of a non-uniformed employee of PAF.
Silva said they are investigating the incident and that full administrative sanctions will be meted out on those who are found guilty. (CPM)
