Metrobank stops Planters Bank in Bankers Cup
NEIL Te Eng Fo scored 21 points and Charles Pena had seven assists as Metrobank crushed Planters Bank, 82-64, in the Bankers Cup 2008 basketball tournament Saturday at the Evergold Recreation Center in Barrio Obrero.
The Metrobank dribblers played as a team in pulling off the victory--their seventh in 11 outings--with Gil Gabila, Toto Solis, Efren Macatol and Ervin Locsin coming up with tough defensive stops. Solis ang Jeff Solidum added 14 points each.

The Bank of the Philippine Island (BPI) also won at the expense of Citibank in overtime, 89-83, to keep the top spot at 9-3, while Banco de Oro beat Securitybank, 91-87.
Spearheading BPI's attack were PJ Samson, Joel Cervantes, Rodgie Maningo, and Charlie Uy. Samson was the team's top scorer with 19. Art Perez acted as BPI's head coach.
BDO is at second in the team standings with its 8-4 slate, while Planters Bank and Metrobank are tied for third place with their 7-4 cards.
Planters Bank is sponsored by Baccus Energy Drink and EML Partners, while Securitybank is backed by Masis Security and Uraya Land.
